Your Brand Is Not the Hero

Written by Naja Shafiq

Your business exists for one fundamental reason:

To help your customers get what they want.

In this story, your customer is the hero, not you.

Your brand plays the role of the guide, just like iconic mentors in movies.

Think of Luke Skywalker with Obi-Wan, Frodo Baggins with Gandalf, or Neo with Morpheus.

Your customer is on a journey.

They have goals to achieve or obstacles to overcome.

Your job is to help them reach their destination.

To do this effectively, you need to truly understand your customers.

You need to be empathetic and helpful.

And that takes time and effort.

You must delve deep into their struggles and develop solutions that address their needs.

But it’s not just about creating a great solution.

It’s about earning their trust so they accept your solution.

You must show them that you’re on their side and that you’re genuinely trying to help.

Your solution must be the best way for them to get what they want.

This is a long-term game, requiring patience and dedication.

By learning about your customers and continuously improving your solutions, you build a relationship based on trust and credibility.

This process of constant iteration is how you win.

It’s about playing the long game and understanding that you’re not the hero.

You are the guide.

Your role is to assist your customers throughout their journey.

When they succeed, you succeed.

By focusing on their needs and consistently delivering value, you position your brand as an indispensable ally.

So remember:

Your brand is not the hero. Your customers are.

Your job is to guide them, support them and help them achieve their goals and overcome obstacles.
