Why some content work better than other?

Written by Naja Shafiq

There are many variables that influence how successful your content is, but there’s one aspect that affects your content a lot and that is story.

Content that has a story almost always performs better than content without a story. This is because a great story invokes emotion. And emotion drives action. And with most content we make, we want our audience to do something, to take action.

There are 3 basic things to turn your content into a story.

Firstly, have a story structure. Bring your audience on a journey. It doesn’t have to be complicated. You can just use the simplest form of story structure that is the three act structure.

Have a setup, build it up, and then resolve it.

Secondly, every story needs a protagonist. In most cases, your protagonist is your audience, client, or customer. This helps make your story more relatable and more memorable.

Make them the hero of the story.

Thirdly, every great adventure introduces a change to the character. They start at point A and finish at point B. By the end of your story, there should be some change happen to them.

Bring your audience on an adventure.

So the next time you make your content, make it a story, invoke people’s emotions so that you can drive action from it.
