What is the Halo Effect?

It’s when our perception of someone is positively influenced by our opinions of that person’s other related traits.

For example, we tend to perceive someone who have good look more positively. So how can you use it to your advantage?

In simple words, good looking social media account = positive perception of your business.

Here are the 6 steps…

1. Profile Photo

  • use your face for personal brand
  • or use a logo for company brand
  • photo must be sharp, clear and high quality

2. Profile Bio

  • write short description of who you are and what you do
  • also state who you are for and what makes you different
  • make it clear and concise

3. Content quality

  • your images, photos and videos must be high quality
  • sharp, clear and not too dark
  • it doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to look good

4. Content type

  • avoid self-serving content, share valuable content instead
  • your content should be entertaining, inspiring, educational or actionable

5. Engage and interact

  • reply to messages and comments from people
  • interact with other accounts on the platform
  • it’s social media, so socialise

6. Lastly, consistency

  • consistently deliver positive experience through your look, words and behaviour
  • the more positive their experiences are with you, the more positive their perception towards you
