Every creator has to go through these 3 stages in their life. Whether you’re a designer doing logo, youtuber making videos, or programmer writing codes. Each of us will go through it all.
Get going
Baby steps. That’s the usual advice we get when starting something new. One step at a time, there’s no need to rush.
Most creative people I know, they don’t begin by being thrown into the deep end right away. We usually start doing it as a side project or out of curiosity or little interest.
We don’t know what’s next or what’s good, we just want to do it. To try and get a feel on their own.
Some stick around, most don’t. For those who does, it’s how they get going.
Get good
This is where it starts to get really interesting for us. We keep on doing it day and day out. Turns out we really like this creative stuff.
The only way to get good is through practise. So we put it the work. Most of the time, it don’t even feel like work. It’s like you’re in this trance of creativity, you’re in the flow.
You do it enough time that you become good at it.
Get smart
Eventually, we start to realised that we a mere mortals with limits and weaknesses. Maybe we started to lose interest for some reason or maybe we end up burning out for working too hard.
There’s multiple different ways to go out as a creative person. But we don’t want to let it go. We’re stubborn, hard-headed.
For every challenge, there’s always a way through. That’s how we did it before, that’s how we’re going to do it again. You do it long enough, you’ll start to realise that you can’t do it long enough.
So you’ll start to be smart about it. Your time, your health, your life. If it’s something you really love, wouldn’t you want to do it your whole life. But how can you do it your whole, if your life isn’t whole.
Epilogue
Regardless of which stage you’re currently right now, just remember to keep going.
No matter how slow, no matter how far, you need to keep going.
