Does your customer actually matter?

Written by Naja Shafiq

You might often heard that you need to know who your customers are.

You might even had done those exercises where you have to imagine who your ideal customers are.

Well let me tell you this. Don’t care so much about who your customers are.

When people say “know your target customers”, it’s less about who they are & more about what they want & need.

The whole point of doing those exercise to get to know who your target or ideal customers are is so that you understand them better.

The point is to understand better what their wants & needs are, so that you can serve them better.

Because when you understand their wants, needs, pains, or obstacles better, you can be more effective, efficient, accurate all in all better at your product or service.

You can design a solution that is solving exactly the problem they’re facing & perhaps you’ll also be able to anticipate a future problem that they’ll faced because you understand them so much better.

So the next time you’re thinking about your customers, think less about whether they’re a man or a woman, what age they are.

Think more about their lifestyle, how they think, what do they prefer.

Think about what challenges are they facing in their everyday lives & how you can help make them a little better.
